Choosing UNIQUE products to promote your business
So you have decided that ordering some merchandise for your company is a good way to market and promote your business. This is the first step, but the next and most important step, is working out what items you intend to purchase. This means that three primary factors need to be considered;
- Budget
- Target Market
- Campaign
For a start we will look at budget and how this will affect your choices.
It does not matter whether your budget is large or small, you can still make unique choices when it comes to purchasing promotional items. Say you are a medium business with approximately 10-20 employees and you have an event coming up that you would like to use to emphasize the key elements of your business. For a start, you need to assess what potential and existing clients will be present at the event, and imagine how you can make a lasting impression.
While it is important to be unique, you still want to be relevant. Let’s just say for this exercise your company is a part of the Financial Sector. At most of these events, the client will expect some sort of “gift pack” containing generic items like a mug and a pen, but why not think outside this box a little. Being that you are in the financial sector, putting a calculator imprinted with your logo in the pack or simply on the desk at each place would certainly get noticed! You could still include other generic items, just to reinforce your brand, but to have one unique item standing out from the rest with relevance to your sector, would be a wise investment. If your budget is not large enough to include multiple generic items, simply ordering a relevant corporate gift for your attendees is enough.
Now to consider your target market.
By now you would have assessed your budget and have an idea of what you can and can’t buy. It is really important that you make sure you choose items that are relevant to the type of market you are attempting to draw on for future business. If we use another example to highlight this, it will give a clearer indication of tailoring choices to your market. So your business is an independent surf shop with a number of stores on the East Coast of Australia. Your target market are generally teenagers aged from 16 – 23. This means that you need to consider what this market would respond to in terms of popular trends. Having assessed this you will no doubt be left with many choices. So for the purposes of this example, let’s say you have now narrowed your options down to a choice of three products you think would work well. You could get key rings, temporary tattoos or mobile phone holders all branded with your logo.
You now need to work out what type of campaign you intend to run and which product would work well for this. For the three candidates in our last example you would need to work out volume. If you were doing a product giveaway, i.e whenever you buy these sunglasses, you get a free key ring, the tattoos and key rings would work really well. If, however, you were leaning toward selling more expensive items such as a surf board, you could use the mobile phone holders.
Of course these are just examples of how you can purchase unique and relevant promotional products to reinforce your brand. If you would like any advice about purchasing products for your business, please contact Nature Coast Promotions on (03) 97544438 or email info@naturecoastpromotions.com.au
